The Silver MassKara Festival Organization, organizer of the MassKara Festival since 2004, has launched MusiKara: The Search for the 2012 MassKara Festival Music.
The songwriting competition, in partnership with ABS-CBN and MOR 101.5, is open to all bands which can compose and perform an original dance music that could be used for the festival, festival director Eli F.J. Tajanlangit said.
The music should depict Bacolod’s attractions, love for merrymaking, streetdancing, and fiesta celebrations, as well as the dynamic life in this city, he said.
The grand prize winner will receive P20,000 in cash, while the nine finalists will receive P3,000 as consolation prize.
The winning song will become the official MassKara Dance Parade Music for 2012, he said.
Under the guidelines, the entry song must be between 6 to 8 minutes, musically arranged and recorded in a danceable upbeat tempo or rhythm, and its lyrics must primarily be in the Ilonggo dialect, with an option to mix English to a minimum, he added.
Interested bands may submit their demo CDs and registration forms at MOR 101.5 Studio, ABS-CBN Broadcast Complex, 26th Lacson Streets, Bacolod City.
Deadline for submission of entries will be on August 31 at 5 p.m. Announcement of the Top 10 Finalists will be on September 1, while The Finals Night will be on September 7 at the Bacolod Government Center, Tajanlangit added.*
